So, you’ve done it. You decided to book your first Brazilian Wax here at Vivid Beauty Studio!
What happens now?
After you’ve booked your first appointment, you’ll be sent a consent form. The consent form will ask you questions about your skin care and medications you are taking. It is extremely important that you fill out the consent form with correct information! There are certain medications and health concerns that would be an issue for waxing. So again, very important you respond to the consent form accurately.

To be eligible for waxing, it’s essential to have discontinued the use of Accutane for a minimum of one year. If you are currently taking antibiotics or steroids, please note that waxing is not advisable for at least three months unless your doctor approves otherwise. Additionally, products containing Retin-A or similar ingredients should be avoided for at least three months prior to waxing. These medications are known to thin the skin, rendering it more delicate and susceptible to irritation. Blood thinners are also a no-go for waxing. Sometimes, pin point bleeding happens. If you’re on a blood thinner the pin point bleeding will be a lot worse! The questions on the consent form are there for your safety. Promise!
You should also be cautious with harsh exfoliants, retinol, salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, alpha hydroxy acid, and related medications. These substances can lead to skin lifting and heightened sensitivity. To ensure a smooth waxing experience, it’s recommended to discontinue the use of these products at least one week before your scheduled waxing appointment.
The hair in the area to be waxed should be about ¼ of an inch long (think the size of a grain of rice). You’ll want to make sure you arrive to your appointment freshly cleansed. There are personal wipes available in the restroom as well. Ensuring the area is free of sweat, oils, and moisturizers will enable the wax to adhere properly.
Other than the consent form there’s not much more you’d need to do before your first Brazilian Wax appointment. Well – besides making sure you add the appointment to your calendar so you don’t forget!
I will greet you at the front door when you arrive for your Brazilian Wax. I’ll walk you back to my private treatment room. I have intimate wipes available for you to freshen up before we get started. For a Brazilian, you’ll need to disrobe from the waist down. My treatment room is a judgement free, safe space. If you feel more comfortable, a towel can be used to cover up bits that aren’t being waxed.
I keep my room pretty cold ~ I have blankets on hand just in case! The room being cold helps with the wax drying time. A typical Brazilian Wax appointment lasts between 30 minutes to an hour here at Vivid Beauty Studio. So once we are done you’ll still have plenty of time to enjoy your day!
